    • Wall Primer is used to provide a strong bonding layer before painting with an ECOS Paints topcoat. Compare our primer products here: Primer Comparison

    • Finish: Smooth, clean finish ready for paint topcoat
    • Water-Based: Non-toxic, VOC-free formula provides long-lasting protection without the harsh chemicals or odors found in conventional paints
    • Interior / Exterior: Interior & Exterior
    • Recommended For: Use on previously painted surfaces as a smooth and clean bonding finish prior to painting with a topcoat. For drywall surfaces, use Drywall Primer.
    • Choosing a Primer Color: White primer is recommended in most cases. Exceptions include: (1) when applying dark paint colors, where a grey primer is recommended; (2) "Poor hiding" paint colors (certain bright yellows, greens, reds and oranges), which require a tinted primer. Colors requiring a grey or tinted primer are indicated in our color library with a roller icon . Contact us for more information.
    • Coverage: 400 sq. ft. per gallon | 100 sq. ft. per quart; 1 coat recommended
    • Application: Apply with a synthetic brush, roller, or airless sprayer. See Application Instructions below for more details
    • Storage: This product should be stored in a dry place, out of direct sunlight and in a temperature between 60 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit

    Description Wall Primer is used to provide a bonding, or color transition layer, giving previously painted surfaces a smooth and uniform finish prior to painting with ECOS Paint. Suitable for interior and exterior uses. For drywall surfaces, use ECOS Drywall Primer. Not suitable for use with plaster.
    Preparation Surfaces should be clean, dry, sound, and free from dirt, dust, grease, and loose or flaking material. Use a damp cloth/sponge to remove dust, a dry cloth/sponge will rarely suffice. Clean stubborn areas with mild detergent. Rinse and dry thoroughly before painting. Soft or crumbly substrates should be pre-treated.
    Application and Clean Up Under most conditions thinning is not necessary. Stir gently before and during use. Intermix if using multiple containers to ensure color uniformity. Generally only requires one coat. Normally dries to the touch in four hours. Allow twenty-four hours before sanding or painting. Can be applied using a high quality synthetic brush, rolled using a tightly woven, shed-resistant 3/8” to 1/2” roller cover, or sprayed using an airless sprayer with 0.015” to 0.017” tip at 1600 to 1800 psi. Avoid applying below 50°F (10°C).
