ECOS Paints Featured in One of the World's Most Sustainable Buildings

ECOS 05/16/2015

The Southface Eco Office, certified LEED® Platinum and EarthCraft Light Commercial, is one of the most sustainable commercial buildings in the world. A part of the Southface campus located in Atlanta, GA, the Eco Office is also a training facility and demonstration building that provides a real-world example of green building in action.

Southface is pleased to announce that as the City of Atlanta prepares to welcome more than 13,000 members the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for ATLAIANTA!, its annual design convention, Southface is priming its campus to be featured during the conference activities.  In particular, the Southface Eco Office and Southeast Weatherization and Energy Efficiency Training (SWEET) Center will be on tour and the Home Depot Foundation Training Center will be the site of the AIA/HUD Secretary’s Awards.

Southface has partnered with leading companies and service providers to demonstrate the latest off-the-shelf technologies available to the design community. During the AIA Tours, representatives who donated original products as well as some newly refreshed interior finishes will be on hand to discuss what’s next for sustainable products and systems.

“We are proud to be part of this initiative to showcase best in class products and technologies,” said Julian Crawford, CEO of ECOS Paints. “It is inspiring to see how groups like Southface can advance both the recognition and use of healthy building materials.”

The AIA/HUD Secretary’s Awards program will convene Friday, May 15 at 6:30 pm at the Southface Eco Office.  “With 75 percent of Southface’s residential technical services now being performed in partnership with the affordable housing community, we are especially proud to be hosting the AIA/HUD Secretary’s Awards,” said Dennis Creech, Southface Executive Director.  These awards recognize excellence in affordable housing architecture, neighborhood design, participatory design and accessibility.
