According to a study by the Survey Research Institute at Cornell University, 83% of travelers say they would choose an allergy-friendly room if they had the option. That being said, hotel owners everywhere can benefit from implementing certain strategies to increase business and create a space where those with allergies feel safe and healthy throughout the duration of their stay. Many people think it's difficult to maintain this type of cleaning and renovation efficiency, but it's probably easier than you think. Use Low VOC Paints
We've harped on the benefits of eco-friendly paints, but they're particularly important for those who suffer from allergies. In a recent study, participants spent six full work days in an environmentally-controlled office space at the TIEQ lab at the Syracuse Center of Excellence. In this space, VOC levels were reduced to approximately 50 micrograms per cubic meter and 40 cubic feet per minute of outdoor air per person. They found that, on average, cognitive scores were 101% higher than in conventional workspaces.
