There are a few differences between stain and varnish, both with their own benefits for your next home project!
Wood stains are used to change or enhance the natural color of wood in your home. While they may offer some protection for wood, they are mostly used for aesthetics and require a varnish top coat.
The main purpose of wood varnish is to add durability to wood. Varnish should be applied to high-traffic or use areas of your home to protect them from everyday wear and tear.
For a complete transformation of your woodwork, we recommend starting with a coat of one of our wood stains followed by a few coats of one of our clear varnishes. The result? Woodwork that’s beautifully tinted and protected.
