FAQs About ECOS Paints

It depends! You'll want to consider factors such as:
- The type of surface you're painting
- The color and condition of the previous paint
Our paint is for primed or previously painted surfaces. Unpainted or bare wood surfaces should be primed first to ensure an even color and consistency.
Our paint formulas are designed for previously painted or primed surfaces. If you're painting furniture, cabinets, or trim that is originally a lighter color without a glossy finish, you may be able to skip the primer.
If the surface is unfinished, heavily sanded, or glossy, we recommend starting with one of our trim, furniture, and cabinet primers. One coat should do, and then you're ready to get started with your new favorite paint color!
Using a gray or tinted primer under certain darker colors can help avoid the need for multiple coats of paint. We've made it easy to determine if you need a tinted primer by marking these colors with a roller icon in our color library.

It depends on which formula of paint you're using and whether it's for indoor or outdoor use. Since furniture, trim, and cabinets get touched and bumped frequently, extra coats can help keep them looking just as good as the day you painted them.
Typically, our indoor trim and furniture paint require two coats. If you're painting outdoors, expect to need three coats of paint. Be sure to check the paint can or product page for exact recommendations.
Either way, you're getting better coverage without sacrificing quality. Our furniture, trim, and cabinet paints typically cover up to 400 square feet per gallon, so you get more done for less.

As we said above, high-touch areas like cabinets and furniture need to be more durable than wall paint since they are more susceptible to everyday wear and tear.
We do not recommend using wall paints such as Matte or Eggshell for these types of projects because the finish will not be as durable, and you risk the chance of more stains, chips, and other damage.
Good news: we offer it all. From non-toxic wall and ceiling paint to furniture paint, you can get started on your next project without compromising your family's health.
