Your baby’s nursery should be a peaceful oasis, but all too often they become overrun with blankets, baubles, books, diapers, doo-dads, and more. It’s amazing how much stuff you can quickly accrue for that tiny little munchkin!
The first thing you should do when you find your nursery filled to the gills is cut back on clutter and eliminate unnecessary knick-knacks and gear. Second, get creative about organization and storage. Here are three clever DIY ideas to get you started.
1. Book slings. These fabric slings are a great way to keep books organized. Not only is it easier to toss books in them, it also ends up being a lovely way to display your collection. Find the full tutorial at
Domestic Imperfection.
2. Suitcase storage. The ones featured in this idea from
Real Simple are vintage, but if that doesn’t fit with your nursery’s design, try decoupage or painting them with
non-toxic**paints to better mesh with your aesthetic. Then fill them with things like the clothes your baby doesn’t quite fit into yet, extra bedding, and toys.
**Conforms to ASTMD-4236, specifically concerning oral toxicity, skin irritation and respiratory effects.
3. Wall planters. We love this genius re-purpose from
Parents! Could it be any easier?
